The Doom of Good Science Fiction Programs
I'm a huge sci-fi fan. I love Star Wars, I collect Stargate SG-1 and Altantis, and I've recently discovered Kyle XY. I'm a diehard for the Jedi, I'm a mimic of Jack O'Neill and John Sheppard, and I was loving the universe of Kyle XY.
I just finished the third season of Kyle, I bought the fifth season of Atlantis the day it was released, and I have a collection of Star Wars movies and books decorating the shelves of my room.
And now, I'm finding that all the good TV programs out there that I was or am interested in, are being turned into some disgusting soap opera or being outed.
And it seems like most of them are just plain being outed.
Not sure about the general public, but Kyle XY was good. There was a great plot to it and had enough action and humor to keep me coming back until I'd suddenly wasted my entire day from morning to dark on watching the episodes. Not that I mind at all, but that's what happened. And sure, it could seem like a soap opera or just another stupid show at times, but there was enough in the story that it made me come back. Like I said, the story was great; the action was fantastic; and the humor was wonderful.
The Stargate Universe was wonderful. Sure, a couple episodes they kinda repeated themselves, but the characters and actors were FANTASTIC. I loved how after a couple episodes you felt like you were a part of the family. I do not know of one GOOD and LOGICAL explanation for the cancellation of those shows.
I don't want the sci-fi programs to be turned into some flippin excuse for a TV show. Which is what it kinda feels like. I mean, hello, look at Heroes. Ew....the thought sickens me.
But I'm tired of it. The cancellations of great shows just because the people who own the show think they can do whatever they want.
I don't watch a lot of TV, but it's most certainly feeling like more and more there is nothing good to watch.
Sorry to dump stuff on whoever's reading this. It's late, I'm tired, and I'm just having a hard time coping.
