My phone subscriptyion goes sixteen dollars a month and I still struggle to use
every second. Minutes don't roll over unless you pay exactly on time, otherwise
you loose your leftover minutes. This I learned over seven years of mobile comm
unications just how I use the cell towers to meet my needs.
When Apple released it's first iPhone it used AT&T exclusivly as the mobile carrier,
and Vermont didn't have an AT&T antenna so the phone could not be unlocked in
the state. The iPhone cost was around five hundred dollars plus subscription with
AT&T but in Vermont it was usless
.
It was when Apple released it's first iPad that I was looking into whyMax for my
mobile carrier and it wasn't really available at that time. The trend in mobile
computing for laptops was whyfi hot spots and coffee. The problem was mobility.
The need was whymax where mobile computing signals could be recieved on moving
vehicle. This happened with Radio Shack when, with a super slim HP laptop, a
built in AT&T mobile antenna, a two year AT&T subscription, the inclusion of an
external disk drive dvd player all for just three hundred dollars; On time no intrest
for two years! It was a deal that was so good I took it to the cleaners.
Now computing from the train became a reality; my phone subscription was still sixteen dollars.
When I compared this dollare value: 16.00 per month verizon phone; 67.00 per month AT&T mobile
on the computer, and total computer mobility access anywhere anytime, I couldn't justify
the expense of a new smart phone, or an apple iPad. My subscription costs are still
under 90.00 dollars a month for my communication needs. Is this better than
an iPhone and an iPad and a two year subscription with text, data, voice contract?
What technology trend am I missing out on?
The problem with my mobile carrier is that they changed the area antenna in
Virginia Beach area, and my phone will not recieve calls; will only call out. This
is not condusive for conducting any kind of business at all. If you read the small print
of the verizon contract it says they can change the program at any time without
consequence. So, if I want full reception with a phone with verizon, I must up
grade to a new phone; a smart phone. Now, it is back to the question of Android
or Apple; iphone or ipad; kindle or swindle! It seems to me that the corporation
contract with these mobile phone carriers are a swindle for JQConsummer.
My three hundred dollar computer is old technology but it isn't broke. My mobile
phone is an antique but it isn't broke and only costs sixteen dollars a month.
So, I am still watching the progress of technology for JQConsummer like myself
to see just where I want to spend my hard saved discretionary income, and if you
are one of the 99%, like myself, it is not very much. The rush to own the newest
technology is beyond my means. Not only beyond my means, but I question the value
to society at large.
Concider: what would happen if an electronic pulse knocked out the entire mobile
computing grid? What would you do? Would you be able to conduct your current life
style without these gadgets? And if the answer is yes, then you, as JQConsummer
must reconcider just where you want your discretionary income to go. Is it beer
cigarettes, phone, tablet, gas, car, house? Or, permaculture with organic food, and sustainable
agriculture and social stability. Because if the average commsumer wants and can't
afford to get into the exclusive game of technology progress, then we as a country are
going to see a lot more than people occupying parks around the country. We might just
see a real knock down drawn out Revolution. The jury is still out, but the tension is
growing among JQConsummer and the one percent that controlls 99% of this country's
wealth.
