At the Show!

Jay and Rose stood outside the theatre building, they became overwhelmed with all these good things that had been happening for them. They never thought they’d get an opportunity like this, especially something in which they dreamed of achieving. Rose was more excited than ever, she couldn’t wait to get her chance in this. Jay on the other hand became a little emotional as he was beginning to realize how far he came to  being a successful performer. He knew that after this show, his life will begin to change, only for the better of course.  All Jay’s thoughts and emotions raced through him, all at once as he became more frustrated and nervous. ‘Jay, everything will go greatly. You’ll do fine, just believe in yourself and let yourself go with the music. Don’t think too much, just go with the flow and keep your motive to your own act and performance.’ ‘Thank you, Rose, I know everything will go as planned, I’m not worried about that. It’s just, this all means so much to me. I want to hold onto this moment for a good few seconds. Ever since I was a child this was all I dreamed of doing and now that the time’s come, I don’t know what to do or think. I feel so overjoyed but also very sad because my dream reminds me of all sorts of things. Things that only my heart can carry. I’m ready for this, just please understand that this was my dream. A dream I thought that would never come true. This performance means so much to me. If I fail, all I know is  that I’ll continue to dream without doing. If this performance becomes a success, my dream will come true and I’ll be forever happy to remember and know that, even after this day.’ Rose listened to Jay pure clearly, she understood him completely. She looked at him pure seriously, she gave a caring look, you could see it through her eyes. Suddenly it started to rain, so Jay and Rose rushed inside the theatre.  They walked through the theatre entrance quietly as other crowds of people walked to the seating areas for the audience. Marian spotted Jay and Rose walking through the entrance door, so she quietly brought them by the sidewalk to the backstage area where the  rest of the groups waited. This gave them enough time to get ready.  Jay and Rose went in separate dressing room, one room for the men and the other for women. As they were changing into their costume outfits, they both felt this ‘nerve-wrecking’ feeling inside that they couldn’t move a muscle. But after a few moments, they took deep breaths and finished getting changed. They felt more confident and pleased when they realized how well they looked, they became prepared for this. After a few seconds more, they were fully dressed. They left the dressing room the same time, hugging each other as they both said ‘I feel so nervous but ready for this.’ Marian seen that they were ready too, so she rushed over to them, saying ‘Is everything okay with you both?’ Jay and Rose looked at each other and felt they had to be honest. ‘Marian we are feeling sort of nervous about all this’, said Jay. Rose nodded with an agreeable look. Marian nodded too, ‘I see’, she said. Marian walked over closer to them, she took their hands and encouraged them with praise. ‘This is your time to show your families and the audience the true talent you both have.’ Marian pointed out through the stage curtain and continued talking. ‘All them people out there, are here to see your moment and your talent.  You show them your full power, let yourself express the best in you, let out the fullest of your magnificent, enchanting ability of… Performing on that stage.’ Jay, Rose and Marian went over closer to the closed curtain. Jay put his hand through, as he peeked out on the waiting audience. He seen anxious crowds waiting impatiently for the whole show to begin. This all made Jay freeze, he felt humorously shocked with all the crowds of people, the seats were full now. He rushed over to Rose and grabbed her into his arms, he frowned while saying ‘Rose, I don’t think I can do this anymore.’ He put his head down, feeling ashamed and doubtful.  For a minute, Rose thought this all through, while trying to come up with a logical solution. She let go of Jay’s hug and walked over to the curtain and looked out.  She had this challenging look, a strong, confident, powerful expression. Rose knew what to do. She then walked back over to Jay, whom was feeling sad and down. Rose put her hands on Jay’s chin and made him look up into her eyes, she started explaining in how this is his time to perform for a public crowd.  He had no time left to be doubtful or rash, he just needed to trust himself on this. Jay suddenly felt sure again, he became gracefully interested in what Rose was trying to tell him. ‘Jay, we both know you can do this! We can’t give up now, we’ve come so far, why give up now? Your very special, talented and a powerful performer. And your my best friend, so please don’t ever doubt an opportunity or a chance in  something you love doing.’      Jay became amazed, he didn’t know what to say anymore. He just grinned and became happily satisfied in what his best friend just said. Jay looked at Rose and he thought she was more than just human, but like an angel or a shining delightful star. He felt this girl made a difference in his life, just by being his friend. It was Rose that made Jay feel more confident, it was her who made him feel good about himself. Jay took another deep breath, ‘Okay Rose, here we go. Let’s do this!’ The stage lights beamed on upon the stage ground. The stage curtains widened and spread out as the show began.

The show started greatly, the audience were fortunately entertained. Groups of performers done their parts with dramatic emotion and great expression towards their given characters from the script or storylines that they were chosen  and given by Marian. Jay and Rose waited patiently backstage as they talked and watched other people have their chance too. All the groups in the show were naturally gifted and talented in their own ways. They all had a unique talent to express with a story to tell. This whole theatre community had endless possibilities, this is what made everything more creative and exciting for everyone who watched and performed.  Many performers done instrumental works, many played the guitar and the piano. The whole atmosphere and experience was like watching a talented musical set for a movie or a concert done live.

Soon the individual acts were done and over and it was time for Alexandra’s group act to be next. So the groups had a break, they needed to rest for the next part. Many people rushed backstage all excited over all the fun they were having with seeing their families and friends watching them do what they love best. Alexandra was feeling rather serious about everything. She was telling her crew that if they mess up this act then they will lose her friendship too. Jay and Rose seen Alexandra saying all them hurtful things, and it left them shocked and disappointed. Rose rushed over to Alexandra’s crew when Alexandra herself was getting ready in the changing room. Rose told the crew that everything was going to be great for them and that she thought they were good people. ‘Don’t worry about Alexandra because you lot are the real stars of this act. You’ve got the inner dignity and heart of gold, that’s more important than Alexandra’s expressive vanity.’ The whole crew felt much better after that and Rose went back into her own position beside Jay. After a while, Alexandra was fully done, ready and prepared for her own turn to act on stage. Alexandra’s crew was feeling annoyed, so they all stood up to her and spook up about their longing feelings to what they wanted. They all explained to Alexandra in what makes  true talent and in what makes a true friend  even more important. The crew then persuaded her in doing the performance as a team and not for her to be seen as some superior leader. The crew felt equal respect was needed more than anything else in this show. Rose felt great as she watched Alexandra and her crew discussing better matters. It made Rose feel great comfort inside as she admired the crew’s courage to stand up to a popular leader like Alexandra. Alexandra herself was left feeling confused, she didn’t realize her own actions. She gave an awkward smile, ‘I’m sorry girls, I didn’t notice that you all felt them ways. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?’ The crew thought about it for a second and then they forgave and accepted her apology. Alexandra hugged them all and felt really sorry. And after that they all then walked over to the stage curtain and waited for their act to begin. Rose felt pleased for the crew, she waved at them all and Alexandra gave an ignorant look, she rolled her eyes and looked away immediately without respecting Rose’s friendly gesture. Rose nodded and thought disapprovingly ‘some people never change.’

In a flash of a moment, the curtains opened and Alexandra and her crew got into position. Alexandra walked dramatically towards the stage as she sang while the crew danced around her. She sang a song she wrote, which was about herself being better and more popular than all the rest of the youth around her. She used superior words in the song that seemed to be pure vain.  Soon Alexandra’s performance was finished and the audience applauded awkwardly as her family was cheering for her, as if she were some  ideal ‘pop star.’ Alexandra then done a downfall bow with self-encouragement as she left and went backstage as the talented dancers continued to follow her orders and demands, but yet they still felt proud to have an audience see their true performing, because to the audience, the dancing was more eye-catching than Alexandra’s singing.

Jay and Rose had been watching Alexandra’s performance closely and they were very disappointed with her selfish vanity and lack of respect for the dancers. Rose smiled as she and Jay realized that their part of the act was next. Marian was standing by them, giving them proud praise. So they both got prepared and walked near the back curtain on stage. A minute later, the curtains opened and spread out as the flashing lights hit the stage floor.            Rose came forward towards the stage centre, close enough to the audience  in-front of her. She happily walked to various angles of the stage, playing with a country styled guitar in her hands as she performed modern music into an instrumental style with the hymns of a choir behind her. Rose sang beautifully without words, she joined in on the graceful sounds with the choir. She gave a great melody through all the crowded audience. Her voice was so calm and yet clear that it kept the crowds in a divine trance, all of the audience did nothing but listened to this extraordinary girl on stage. They didn’t interrupt or make any sound or movement, they just gave a close gaze at the magical performer that they seen before them. Rose then smiled as she gave all her  heart out to this ordinary crowd, she was in a jazzy mood as she got off the stage and headed to the top of the seating grounds. As she walked up through the staircase, she suddenly stopped singing for a moment and a big silence began. She shifted her shoulders and her head into a dance as she followed the emotion of her music. Rose closed her eyes and put out her hands and began to sing again. When she sang, she urgently put her hand away from the crowd as she slowly took it back and moved her hand towards her chest. From the way she expressed this move, it was like she was giving out a soul of light and then talking it back to her uttermost emotion. This emotion was filled with excitement, it was filled with a pure rhythm of music within. She then rushed back to the centre stage as everyone (meaning those sitting in the full audience) rised from their chairs as they watched pure seriously without a doubt to love this girl’s way of talent. As Rose hit the centre stage, the music became deeper, purer as the room got darker, the only light was from the stage lights, which flashed down above Rose’s head. The flashing lights were all on her now, but Rose’s shyness disappeared as a stronger strength of  character appeared in her, it brought out the best in her. All her power, all her talent, all her beauty and mystery’s came out, all on this specific stage. As the ray of the stage light was directly on Rose, her hair blew softly around the heavenly breeze, which beautifully overwhelmed everyone else in the crowds. As Rose turned around in circles of directions, the windy breeze shifted around her like a bright tornado in shocking action. Rose was deeply in a dazed trance with this mysterious, blissful power. Suddenly the entrance door barged opened as the Autumn leaved swarmed around Rose, as it made shape and form to the thing that  was this powerful being. The whole powerful windy breeze left her then as the Autumn leaves directed Rose’s eyes to the balcony area of the building. She began to sing again as this shining beam of light caught her glimpse and it journeyed all the way down through Rose’s eye-sight. Through her eyes, you could see a loving paradise of freedom. You could see all of Rose’s adventures destiny, all through the universe of Rose’s bright-eyed sight. She then ran around the corner of the stage, leaving her guitar as she then went over to the piano, which was displayed with the help of other performers. The audience applauded with enjoyment as they were excited and anxious towards what was going to happen next. This all made Rose feel more confident as she appreciated all the crowds liking to her act so far.

The lighting colour changed dark blue and the sound of music became more deep and calm as Jay came out of hiding and entered the stage with the act of his expressive character. He moved down to the centre stage, acting pure shocked as the crowds watched in amazement, it made them wonder what this performer was going to do next also. Jay ran around the stage, saying ‘where am I? Help me people, I need my soul unleashed to you all.’  Jay surely was into his dramatic  character now, his eyes looked so serious and his facial expression was incredibly crazy. The beam of the flashing light struck Jay as he acted in shock and put his hands above to cover the light ahead. He shouted ‘Help’ as he threw himself backwards onto the stage ground.  As he lay there, he looked as if he fainted or became possessed by a stronger sense of musical power.  Jay had the microphone in his hand, he sat up on the stage and slowly began to sing. His song was very creative and loving, very moving. He sang powerfully in whatever he performed or danced to. Rose joined in on Jay’s performance as she played her instrumental version on the piano. Jay then lifted himself off the ground in his spectacular costume, which was designed perfectly by Jay himself. It was a classical red costume with sparkles of gold around it, Jay also had a multi-coloured masquerade mask of silver and blue on his face to cover his true character. He also had green boots that were styled like trainers, which made Jay’s fashion pure original and unique. He almost looked like a fictional super-hero with the overall costume he wore. He done a very similar act to his first audition, which amused everybody. He sang high notes that released his true talent to anybody. Jay then stood out to the crowd as he gave an appreciating bow and said ‘Thank you all so much for giving me this chance to perform in front of a beautiful crowd like you all here tonight. This all means so much to me.’ He waved and smiled as the audience were singing along to Jay’s beautiful song about divine love. He went back to the centre of the stage and sang magnificently to the last words of the song. He let go of the microphone as it slowly fell to the ground, it was like the speed of time slowed down.  He done a fast backflip and landed perfectly back on foot and then fell slowly to the ground, as if he passed into an eternal life after a slow fading death. As he was falling, Jay imagined that there was no ground or a stage floor, he felt as if he was falling from clouds to the earth’s core. But before he let go of his performance at end, he said ‘I love you all in the crowds. I performed my life, all for you. But I hope, I showed you that this is what I live for, to perform for you, for you of all beauty, that’s here  tonight.’ The stage lights turned gold and red as bright confetti fell upon Jay as a heavenly light was trying to take him up above all the heavens, but Rose didn’t let him surrender or let go of this life, she grabbed his hand and pulled him back down to the earth’s stage, because she knew he was going to live and even perform another time later again. Rose lifted Jay up on his feet as she smiled ‘Look Jay, there you are, the moment you’ve always been waiting for.’ Jay turned his head to the audience and seen that  they all stood up from their seats for him. They clapped and applauded for Jay’s magical heart and talent to remain. Rose whispered into Jay’s ear ‘I  told you this was your time to shine. I knew you could do this, now look at the respect you earn in return, for all the courage and happiness you gave.’ Jay was happily overwhelmed, he looked everywhere around him, nodding as he felt a great relief over the entertainment and performance he gave. Rose looked at the balcony and seen that the shining light was an angel from a higher realm or a divine existence, it was guiding her until the end of her days. Jay or anyone else didn’t see this heavenly being, but Rose knew she was in this life for a reason, it was to help Jay find his way!
