Experts outside of Washington are trying to decide whether or not genetically engineered salmon would be good for the environment and safe to eat. The Food and Drug Administration says that according to their analysis the fish are safe to eat and grow.
Some interesting facts about the engineered fish include the use of chinook and pout fish DNA being spliced into the salmon DNA. Also the fish will only be female with three chromosomes.
With all the changes made to the fish some people are worried that the fish could potentially cause problems.
