Fuel strike: Woman disfigured as stored petrol explodes in her kitchen

A mother was fighting for her life today after petrol she was pouring into a container ignited in her kitchen, causing severe burns to her body.
The horrific accident is... thought to be the first since Cabinet minister Francis Maude advised motorists to fill a jerry can with fuel before the threatened tanker drivers’ strike. It came as:
Petrol delivery drivers were offered a bonus of up to £250 in overtime to work an extra two hours a day to clear a huge backlog of fuel deliveries to dry garages.
Forecourts across London turned motorists away as thousands of families prepared for long road trips at the start of the Easter holidays.
The Unite union said there would not be a strike over the Easter weekend but warned that a walkout was still possible after the break.
The sense of a crisis running out of the Government’s control was heightened by the appalling injuries to Diane Hill, 46, at her home in York.
Mrs Hill had been decanting petrol in her kitchen, where a gas cooker was on, and suffered 40 per cent burns to her body as it ignited.
She was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, with “serious and significant burns” after the explosion asshe transferred the fuel from one can to another last night. Neighbour Margot Johnston, 86, said Mrs Hill’s two daughters, Lauren, 23, and Grace, 18, were in the garden and her husband Mark was at work when the petrol ignited.
Following Mr Maude’s comments, critics pointed out that it was illegal to keep stockpiled fuel in quantities greater than 10 litres. A jerry can typically holds 20 litres.
Labour MP Karl Turner took to Twitter to say: “Francis Maude should resign if his politicking and unnecessary panic has led to York woman decanting petrol in kitchen suffering 40 per cent burns.” Mr Maude said the Government was aware of the reports, adding: “People should follow the advice of the Health and Safety Executive.”
But what do you think !
Is panic buying stupid !
And really would you store petrol in your kitchen !
We would love to hear what you have to say no this topic.

Utter stupidity Fill a can in station seal and leave in garage or outside don’t take in kitchen and pour into numerous containers! Or is that she was being greedy and going back for more.
