During a conversation today with a co-worker, I was talking to him about Pompeii and suddenly found out, he thought it was in India. I saw one of my managers cringe and so did I, we had to tell him it was in Greece, correction Italy and he asked what was so important to know anything about it.
I'm suddenly realizing a problem the US education system doesn't even talk about Pompeii for some reason. I'm kind of surprised because of how popular it is. Just as my co-worker seemed almost unaware of one fact and why it was important to learn about it, it could happen again, know why? Yellowstone Park stands on a volcanic area and could go off at any time, Colorado, and all boarding states could be affected if not destroyed. So yes, it is important, but I hate to say it, the American education system has grown a bit lax a bit, wouldn't you agree?
