Walking in 99 degree New Orleans heat can be humbling.
Sweat pour from places, you never even knew could sweat.
You quickly begin to reevaluate what you are doing, and why
you are doing it.
But not this morning.
Walking the Garden district, with Jeremy, contemplating my life, and where
God has brought me, I began to wonder about the line of demarcation between
blessings and curses.
We ask God for blessings, pray for his will, and try to serve his, as long as his blessings,
his will and where he has called us to serve him, fit in line with our definitions.
When he differs from us, we usually tend to assume, this must be a curse, or a test, and
try to muscle through to get to the good stuff.
But, what if the current situation, is the good stuff?
What if his will, plan and blessings for us, have absolutely nothing to do with the plan, blessings, and
hopes that we had envisioned?
We are flawed, feeble minded creations, trying to anticipate the will and design of a grand Creator, whose vision for us, is in an eternal perspective when at best, our field of vision, spans maybe 2-5 years.
For me, I pray for a Godly vision in my own life.
To see a fraction of what he has in store, and in mind for me.
To enjoy the life I have, the Wife, friends, and faith, that keeps me strong.
The heat of the moment, while withering in its intensity, will pass shortly, and a new season will
shine through.
Full of promise, and disappointments.
But in all this, and over all this, Gods will, his plans, goals and vision, will remain supreme.
This, is my humblest prayer for my life, and yours..
In Him, and Amen..
Jim
