Broken Butterfly

Broken into pieces, my soft and gentle wings.

Broken and defeated, with all the pain that winter brings.

I didn't see it coming; my slow undoing,

It came like a comet falling, quickly with no warning.

My heart is filled with shards glass, piercing the flesh that covers it.

My sorrow comes as tears; as I fight to rise above them.

Lanterns surround me, soft and brightly lit.

Like angels dancing round me saying I'm a gem.

My wings maybe broken, my old butterfly wings,

But they have been replaced with pure white angel wings!

Happiness fills my heart.

Oaths give me strength.

Patience is a start.

Everlasting means those things will never end!
