I am a remnant of a 5000+ years old Civilization that dwelt in the Indus Valley...
I did have my English education here. There are many who speak "good" English, but over here/internet I observe so many who make me wonder if English is dead!
You too do write beautifully... :)
Hi! Many speak proper English. From my observation, those who don't are those influenced by the internet (not their fault); the limitation like limited characters in text messages or wanting to chat quickly have made users adopt/adapt a new language that sounds like English but doesn't look at all, not to forget the differences in the American / English spellings. The other group who doesn't speak proper English are those who have learnt English as the second language, with their mother-tongue being the first. These people, I have concluded, have a problem because they THINK in their mother tongue and translate before they are about to say.
In my training (communication skills) I emphasize that to be able to speak any language properly, one should think in that language... My opinion... :)
The most different sounding in spoken and written word are those from the African continent, especially when they post at sites like this...
Yes, I have been to Africa (Nigeria, Ghana). My sister, my nephews live there (Accra).
Thanks for the story of Elvis's laughter in that song - and I thought it was a clever mix (a neat technical effort...), though I know that sounds very original Elvis laughter...
Hello "Mite", yes, Australian accent is peculiar, the way they say "mate", "day"...
Imagine hearing for the first time - "Good die to die..." for "God day today"!
My fav is "Luv..." and I use it all the while in spoken/written word... it has a sense of closeness... :)
Yes, distant cousins in many parts of the world, and some close family in a few places (London, Amsterdam, Perth, Sidney, India, NY, LA, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia...)
Not as often as I used to, too expensive to travel these days... I haven't been to Australia / down south and South America yet; many parts of Europe. But enough to say, I guess I have seen a lot... :)
I know so many graduates, good written English, but can hardly talk/communicate... I guess the FEAR of not sure of what to say or how keeps many people tongue-tied!
You are GOOD, too! :) Happy to communicate with someone who appreciates...
