yeah, i pray like that girl in the pic above. sometimes with candles. but not when i'm in my room. i pray in privacy all the time. i don't like to pray in public places, unless it is during the eucharistic celebration, for "when two or three are gathered in my name, i will be in their midst", as Jesus said.
i recite the "our father", "hail mary", "glory be" and "the apostles' creed". followed by the morning prayer. and of course, not forgetting the daily bible readings. they are interesting to follow. reading the scriptures daily would help me understand the Word deeper and takes my relationship with God to a higher level, as i believe, the Word is a living word. to understand it is to understand God. of course, no one can fully understand God.
i find solace after my "time" with God. no matter how short. i wish i could lengthen it, though.
The way I used to have been prayfull was sometimes ina group or alone tell I felt satisfied with knowing in my head I was answered felt good about it. I gave that up for more meaningfull way of life. just doing not prayfull. If I'd even pray that might matter. I might throw some insease or candles down remind myself of the power of light and holyness of Gods burning when I light the candles. just to be symbolic. It's not needed but does being out some honnor to God doing small things. You could just tell God I remmber the offer you made. so Im making offer to you. I might not have anything to offer but my own emotions taste from my lips and knowelege. My gift is mearly letting you in my life and experience it and life sacrifice
Before anything, I sing praises and songs to God with an instrument. It plunges me immediately in God's presence. Afterwards, I wash my hands symbolicaly, cover my head with a scarf, light candles and incense.
When I pray, it is also a time for me to meditate on what God is for me and what he has done in my life. I read the scriptures, pray and sing again to Him. It takes alot of time! That's why I usually do this during night. I'm not a day time prayer.
