So here's a thought:
Have you ever watched a movie/film and afterward...felt differently?
I just finished watching Revolutionary Road. At first, I thought, "hey, this is going to be a good flick. I've heard it's alright." It was NOTHING I thought it was going to be about. I mean, wow. I can't even sleep; my brain has just been jolted with another perspective on life.
It got my mind reeling, hoping, that I would never end up living that sort of lifestyle. Eek. All I want to understand is the ending. I'm pretty good at decoding messages in film- I've taken a few classes and learned about hidden meanings, such as color, object placement, and camera angles. I'm just confused and boggled as to why the director decides to show the man at the end...tuning out his wife...and then the screen fades to black.
Sorry for ruining the ending for you folks who haven't gotten a chance to see it, yet.
This doesn't happen too often for me, when my head gets wrapped around the unrealistic life of a film. However, the sad thing is, this is rather realistic. I'm wondering just how many people in that era, women particularly, who practically went through that same thing. The 1950s, hmmm...
Whatever the case, this film made me want to just understand the past a little more. I don't think I'll fall asleep tonight until I get a few answers about the ending to the film.
Toodles.
