Make-up isn't as simple as I thought

I thought it was simple to put on since I don't put much of any on at all.  I use only foundation with primer and when the clerk chick at Sephora put it on for me it was so perfect.  It stayed on all day and it never wiped off when my hand came in contact with my face.  However, when I put it on it seemed like the liquid foundation never settled on my skin and every time I accidently touched my face a little came off.  I don't "cake" my face with make-up.  I just try to do 2 layers depending on how long I plan to be out.  Are there any tips that will make the foundation stay on my face and not rub off? My make-up wasn't cheap either.  Anyone who knows about Sephora knows that.  My foundation was over $30.

    Yea, I put the primer on first.  Oh, and does anyone knows the difference between a primer and concealer?  Anyways, before i put on the makeup I had just washed my face and put some Jergen's lotion on my skin then applied the primer then the foundation with the use of my fingers.

    lmao.  I dont use make up to that extent at all where it would make me look like a total different person.  I only wear foundation.
