Why do you believe what you believe?

Of course with any religion, it's all about faith because religion doesn't come with proven facts...what religion are you, if any, and why do you believe in it? If you don't believe in anything, why?

Well, I don't go to church or have a religious leader..I was raised in a a very sheltered strict Christian home. Christianity was pounded in my mind for at least 17 years. Once I got out on my own and was able to form my own opinion, I started questioning a lot of the belief. I started to get an open mind (from a VERY close mind) and that's why I posted this thread to see what people believe and why. If a religious leader said there was no after life ( which they never would because all religions promise some sort of after life) but since this is hypothetical, I would take it with a grain of salt because I don't like religious leaders. I don't like "church people". I spent many years around them and they take religion and turn and twist it into what they think should be the right way. They put so many legalities on religion. They are hypocrites and think they are better than everyone else and point their fingers at other people when 3 are pointing right back at them.

Yeah, me to..I was a member of bolt a few years ago and there were so many people and so many discussions.. Got back on a few days ago, now there's just a few discussions and seems like a lot less people. Are you on any other sites that are discussion forums that you would recommend?

All the forums I visit are just nonsensical/fun posts mostly made for social reasons. Nothing of substance for discussion, so I honestly would not recommend any of them.

There is no way to prove nor disprove the existence of any higher being. And that is my entire take my personal religious beliefs. Roughly, to see is to believe in my eyes or show some proof of existence. To me personally there is probably a better chance of a Big Foot that there is of a so called God or Gods. Agnostic is just what I am. I mean it is a nice thought for some eternal reward system and some eternal punishment, but just when I think that (just going off Christianity here) an all loving God would throw someone into the fire of hell and punishment seems kind of hypocritical to me.

I believe in facts even though believing in facts itself may be just pure faith not much different to religion.
But I feel alot safer with facts because they offer more descriptions than religion.

let me state first and foremost i do believe in god in a sense. that being said, "God is the leading cause of death" lmao. just a kind of maybe almost with in the vacinity of not really being a random thought, but if god created us all as individuals, why wouldn't he create us with the desire to worship in individualistic (is that even a word) ways? why would i conform to one way of worshipping god if he created me different, wouldn't i have been created with a different view on religion? just saying

I was raised Catholic, I hate to admit I do not follow as many of the things with the same enthusiasm as I used to, as I grow older I've grown bitter about many things, I've seen people using religion to manipulate other people, to get money and so on. So lately I try to stay as neutral as possible about things, I do believe in God, and what helps me believe in him is the series of beautiful things in mother nature. It's humans I do not trust, so selfish, so cocky, so harmful...
