Considering the multiple reincarnations this site has had (i.e. Bolt, Bolt2, Boltagain) and losing most of it's user base and features, why do any of you continue to go to this site? Expecting things to improve? Currently enjoying the low key atmosphere? What brings you back here?

I look for those when I check up on Bolt, but they seem to be hiding.

Permalink Reply by dazyabbey on September 13, 2012 at 3:42pm I joined again because one of my friends mentioned Bolt a few days ago and I realized how much I loved this site. I remember when it shut down and when Bolt2 shut down too. I didn't know there was a Bolt3. I had a lot of friends on here and I was looking to see if any of those friends were still on here. I don't think so but it was worth the effort and I think I will continue to snoop and wander around and hopefully make a name for myself. :-)
I am a newbie here and only just found out about Bolt when looking at the list of social networking sites on Wikipedia, and found that this is the oldest social networking site in existence. I am getting fed up of Facebook trying to be the be-all and end-all of social networking sites, considering that there are so many idiots on it and especially the admins.
This seems to be a decent networking site and I hope it will grow again and improve, but it's important to have the right kind of people in charge of it. People who won't sell out, delete or block members from posting for no good reason, people who will listen thoroughly to complaints from both sides of the story before taking action, and most important of all people who know what they are doing.
Every social networking site has its purposes, and I perceive Bolt to be one for general socialising without any particular emphasis on one facet of society - e.g. Myspace for artists and musicians, Bebo for bloggers, WAYN for travellers, Linkedin for corporate networking, Google+ for news sharing and more intelligent and in-depth discussions.
I am glad that Bolt is still around, and I hope it will continue to thrive in the face of this ever-changing cyberverse. :)
Is it actually the oldest social site?
I realize that information is a few clicks away, but lets pretend there is no Google and talk about it instead.

Something I'm pretty sure you can't grasp given your authorship of this thread.
Permalink Reply by DontGiveACareBear on October 12, 2012 at 11:15pm From 1997 to 2007 (I think) when Bolt closed down I had made a lot of friends; many of whom I had regular contact with for years. As I mentioned in my only post since coming back yesterday, the site's closure caught all of us off guard. I didn't see it coming, otherwise I'd have wanted to share email addresses and such. The setup of the website, with all of the different specific boards, which each fell under a general heading (e.g., the Gossip board was under "Random") allowed for users to sort of naturally fall in with their own kind. Obviously, I spent my time on the Gossip boards. Anyway, I guess the only reason I even looked for the site from time to time was in hopes that I might run into one my buddies again, even if it is just a shot in the dark.
