I feel so non-cultured. I've only been to Canada and Ireland. I'm right next to Mexico now though so maybe I'll add that to the list. If I don't get sold into a human trafficking ring or something.

The USA offers everything in the way of exotic settings, sites and cultures without the feeling of being exploited at currency exchange. A vacation out in the South Pacific? There is Hawaii. A feel for the Caribbean? We have Florida and her Keys. Rainforests, cloud forests, dry forests, tropical, subtropical, temperate, artic, arrid and beyond...we have it all here in this one big nation sandwiched inbetween the Pacific and Atlantic. Mountains, gorges, vallies and rolling plains...any other landscape that is Earthly possible is here.

We're a culturally rich nation without the problems of European-style multicultralism and yet every culture considers itself American first...kind of.

You make a strong point for exploring this country - something I have dreams of doing in addition to international travel - but while there is a plethora of cultural diversity here, it's all sort of enveloped into the greater American culture we know. I've already started to experience a new kind of sub-culture in the U.S. just by moving across the country, however I also recognize just how distinctly different these Americanized cultures are in their original homelands and definitely want to see those places for myself. I really consider the ideal job traveling to every country and learning about each firsthand.

P.S. I majored in Anthropology, so that should explain enough =p

wow nosferaazar. you need to get a "round the world" ticket so that you can not just visit but understand countries outside of north america

Indeed. That's the dream ... but one needs money to do that. First the lottery, then the world; my delusional plan will be fulfilled.
