Vanity

Internet has provided an entire new face to vanity, a new outlet. Does it actually inspire this, or simply forms into existence what was there all along?
I am referring to the bizarre obsession that the larger portion of the female population seems to have with their own image. I realize that (for biological and cultural reasons) women have a very heightened attitude towards their appearance. This is not necessarily bad, but from what I have noticed I think it is nearing a psychological disorder.
How often do you come across profiles with pages upon pages of practically identical pictures of nothing but the profile's owner, taken with slightly different angles and slightly different facial expressions? How many of you are these owners? Many. I can understand the enjoyment of photography, even if it is simply of you in different situations. But these pictures... There is nothing to them but you, endlessly... And these "collections" keep on growing!
Am I the only one to be disturbed by this? Are we so used to it, it has become the norm? I know our society inspires self obsession in every form, but this seems to be an indication that in the near future Vanity and Pride will leave the ranks of deadly sins and join the ranks of heavenly virtues.

I am not insulting them. They chose to be insulted by my observations. I said that their actions in my opinion fall under the definition of Vanity, which is:
"excessive pride in one's appearance, qualities, abilities, achievements, etc.; character or quality of being vain;"
I believe that numerous pages of identical images of yourself falls under "excessive pride in one's appearance". If that is to be debated, then fine. I have yet to see any good explanation in this thread of how that is not vain.
I have explained in detail how your statement was flawed. I don't think "No flaws at all" counts as a counter argument to that. Once we deal what that point, we can eventually move on to your opinion of me. I would like to "face the facts". Once you are capable of presenting them properly.
And if you don't have to empower anything, then why did you?

So, because no one agrees with me "at all", what I am saying MUST be wrong? Is THAT how information works? I've been wrong all these years! I didn't realize that mass opinion had the power to define truth. Quite a skill we have there, as a mass. Did you actually read all other replies before making that statement? There have been several that agreed with me, at least to an extent.
I didn't delete anything... My mention of Manda is right there, where it has always been. What are you talking about?
As for the rest of your reply, we've already covered the logical fallacy. I realize that you have the love for repeating the same thing over and over until your "opponent" gets bored and leaves, but it's a pretty poor tactic.

My only question for you is why exactly does it even matter? Why do you even care? People will do whatever they want to do there is no stopping it you can bitch and moan all you want but will it stop them from doing it? No. Its just like saying social networking is bad because it allows people to be stalkers from a distance so that means nobody should own any accounts on social networking sites. Chances are none of us are ever going to meet ever so there is really no point in getting butthurt because people post 7000 lewd photos that all look the same.

But in an effort to complicate things... why do you care that I care that you care? Let me get this straight. You addressed whoever you were addressing in your point as "you". Considering I was the only one defending my point here, I think it was a safe assumption to make that you were addressing me when you said "there is really no point in getting butthurt because people post 7000 lewd photos"... as no one else was objecting it. None the less you proceeded to tell me that you didn't necessarily mean me personally, BUT at the end end of it all I should be asking all those questions from myself? Maybe you should pay attention to your own post.

And I didn't actually ask you why you care. I've pointed out that you asking me why I care is basically the same as me caring. I don't need to ask that.
