they should require drug tests for welfare and othe rgovernment aid

i am not against drugs, but i think that if you get aid, then that money should not be used for dope, i mean if you want to get high you should earn it

I agree
well, 9 the two do correlate, when i say government aid i mean things like foodstamps, housing assistence, and other things that directly correlate

also, i am not at all discriminating against their past use, just whether or not they use while getting help, if they can afford to get high, then they can afford to pay rent or buy food, instead

being a person who does smoke weed and drink occasionally, i do not care if the whole world wants to get stoned, or smoke crack or whatever else they feel the need for, but, i get high with money that i earn, and, my tax money should not go to pay for their habits
here 9.0, allow me to really simplify this for you, first, a piss test/saliva test test for recent drug use, not use from long ago, hair test test for any use in life, and what my topic is, simply, if you are getting any kind of aid, then you do not need to use money on drugs, because, if you do then that money was freed up to use on drugs, because of the aid, so regardless it is till the aid that is purchasing the dope, and i 'know' that the money doesn't come from the government, i pay taxes, and i see what my takeouts are, this is very obvious that all forms of financial aid come from taxes, simple, and if you have money to spend on drugs then you do not 'need' the aid anyway, you are just causing more of my taxes to have to be removed from my check than is nescesary, simple enough for you, or let me know if i need to explain it any better
roflmfao

this is too, good, he states that as long as they are not using the money to commit criminal acts, i am under the assumption that purchasing narcotics is criminal

and if someone is exchanging services for drugs, then, they could, also, exchange services for money

and, also, if you are using government assistence, and they were to require a drug test, then you should be intelligent enough to not 'experiment' with drugs

and i can complain about how they use my money, because it is my money
it might be your money too, but, if you choose not to complain, then that is your right as well

simply put, they should require drug tests for people on assistance

this is not really an opinion

it is almost a necessity

also a drug test can determine the difference between a habitual user and an experimenter

the little cups can't but you still have to have so much in your system to read dirty on those

this is a fact, check it out

i also have not once stated that the positive results should permanently bar you from assistance, but you should have to reapply, and thus, wait again

also, i have been down the road of messing y life up, partially due to narcotic use

and it taught me that staying fucked up beyond recognition was not the way to live in modern society

this is a lesson any one who uses societys benefits for personal gain should learn
of course you do
Drug testing is expensive and would take more money away from your drug use to have done
well, i, one of so obviously small intelligence, believe that the families of those on aid, who are addicted to expensive drugs are probably not benefiting from the aid in the first place, therefore that argument is a moot point

and, if they are addicted to expensive drugs in the first place, then you can rest assured that there welfare check is not supplying them with an adequate supply to keep them 'functioning normally' for an entire month, so yet another moot point

and, to say that they do no have a choice until they accept the help they need, well, that is just a load, there is not one city in the united states that does not offer some form of free rehabilitation program in it, they choose to stay, if they wanted out, there are options

and to say that it is not just mine and your taxes, it is also their taxes, listen to yourself, most serious addicts have not paid more than sales tax in most of their adult life, because, if they are serious users, then they are committing other crimes to pay for their habits

this is not obviously always the case, for instance their are some who have heavy habits, which also work, and this means that they pay for their own dope, so they are not even the topic of discussion.....and i am the one, apparently, which is lacking in brain power
My mother was on drugs, and just because she got food stamps didnt mean anything, she sold them to people so she could get cash. She only spent about 75-90$ out of 280$ of food stamps on OUR food.
The social safety-net protects everyone, not just the people it catches. Why are people always talking about how they can fuck the poor a little bit harder? Nobody's talking about how you should have to have drug tests to be a senator...
I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor to create an underclass of people with no means of supporting themselves, nothing left to lose, at least some of which have criminal contacts, and at least some of which are addicted to expensive drugs. I definitely think nothing bad will come of that...
actually i concur, i do think that senators, mayors, and other officials should be drug tested, and people would be quite surprised(or not)at what the results are

and, if someone on welfare is addicted to expensive narcotics, do you honestly believe that a welfare check, foodstamps, and housing assistance are enough to keep them 'straight' for a month, i really doubt it
It keeps them engaged with the system to a bare-minimum.
The cost of welfare is less than the cost of completely unplugging them from the matrix, and having them turn to crime to support themselves.
Cost-benefit analysis aside, I think its a matter of dignity. I thought America prided itself on being the first of the first world countries. That you can only fall so far in America before you're caught. That nobody *starves* to death in America...When you take social support away from people, for any reason, you abandon them. The best they can hope for is to become criminals. That's a *good* outcome for people that have been socially abandoned. The rest become beggars, or go tramping. These people die quickly, and without dignity.
I thought you and I in the first world had it so good that we could afford things like dignity. Otherwise we may as well be some middle-eastern hellhole.
Agreed.

All I'm gonna say.
