Bolt

Bolt3.com is CLOSING DOWN. Please read urgent notice

I was one of the regs on the forums.

I had a profile that asked questions about my likes, dislikes and hobbies.

All of the bloggers were pervs or emo kids, and it was great making fun of them.

I owned in badges.

I had "friends".

Now it's back to square one? Yech. Not liking this much. It's not the same at all. If I want to exchange video links and status updates, I'll get on Facebook.

P.S. When did bolt come back? It's so dead in here. The forums used to be bumpin'.
I was a reg in the chatrooms but now there are no chats and no old accounts that we used to have.
You can still do all those things with this bolt. And with some of the other social networking sites.
how do you get the chats to work?
I dont think Bolt will ever be the same. At least not to us old timers who knew bolt before is was bolt2.com. and even before they did the new layout. I Joined in '99, Had just about every badge. I still talk to some of the people I met then. Im trying to get them to join again.
i agree. i just rejoined cause i loved old bolt. found out the chats are all gone!!! so dissapointed. How do you even chat now?
I liked when we used to stage invasions of other forum boards. That was awesome! At least until the Religion board invaded our Patriotism board with that one whackjob that would post tons of shit, be a pedophile, and generally spam the hell out of our board.

They opened Pandora's Box with that one.
I definitely miss the old Bolt when i'm online - it was a really excellent time-wasting tool. I can't remember when I joined, probably before 2003 - I think i'd got the badge for 4 or 5 years when it was shutdown.

Maybe you'll think this is really lame, but I think the internet is lacking something without Bolt, unless there are other similar sites i'm not aware of. I mean, I can't be bothered with sites like facebook - just "networking" with people I already know in real life, and could talk to in other ways. I loved being able to meet new people from any country, or just engage in pointless political arguments. It seems like you can only really "meet" people these days on lecherous dating sites, which is a nonstarter for me.

Maybe Bolt/Bolt2 was just a product of a more innocent age, I don't know... the internet seems to have dried up somehow since then. No offence to anyone on here, but this place seems incredibly lifeless by comparison (to anyone who remembers the old site - that was really buzzing with activity most of the time).
Not that the old Bolt didn't have a lot of problems, but they were never enough to make the site unviable.
