I can't believe we are just a few months away from possibly having a new president but everyone seems so utterly disinterested in either of the popular candidates.

Is anyone motivated enough to vote this year? Mitt Romney and Barrack Obama are pretty much the same person and the two aren't enough to inspire me to wait hours in line to vote. Both supported the massive multi-billion dollar bailouts (i.e. TARP) at the expense of taxpayers, both would inch closer to an unavoidable war with Iran (How long can you "renew" sanctions?), both are blindly expanding the unnecessary power of the federal government (Gitmo, pro-PATRIOT Act), and neither one seem really capable of curbing wild government spending. Understandably, there is some difference in tone but they are the same animal with different colors.

For some, I am sure they will vote on social non-issues like abortion, gay rights, and etc. but in the jist of it all, does it have any impact? Anyone else struck with severe voter apathy in this election cycle? Does anyone feel strongly about any of the two popular candidates?

Yeah, i want to pick the best president for the economy but, it seams like Obama would be better so far. Since I don't have any idea what Mitt Romney plan is.

How is Romney expanding the unnessary power of the federal government? He is not in the government. And why would you have to wait hours in line to vote? There is thing called an absentee ballot--takes minutres--not hours.
I will vote for Romney.

Waterfish, you will not vote for Romney because you do not know what his plan for economy will be? But you will choose Obama because you imply you know what his plan is. His plan has been a complete failure. Why would you vote for a repeated failure?

He advocates for it and carries political clout within his own party. He appears on various news and political outlets and champions it to the population. You forget that he has influence.

You think most people vote absentee? I am just sharing a sentiment felt by many people.

Voting for a different head on the same body.

You do know Romney supported many parts of Obama's failed economic plans? Obama's economic stimulus? He defended it against Wolf Blitzer on CNN. Bank and auto bailouts? It was the, "Right thing to do." Both are pro-TARP. The jewels of Obama's failed economic plan were polished and shined by Mitt himself.

Even if in some alternate reality, where Romney was president in 2008 instead of Obama, he would have taken a course very similar to his. Beyond me why the GOP felt that Mitt Romney was the strongest contender against Obama.

You make an interesting point--it was Obama's failed plan--not mitt's. About absentee ballots? I don't care how most people vote--either by absentee or in person. I'm just saying that if your experience has been to wait hours in line there is an alternative and easy way to vote just for the price of a postage stamp. But if everybody voted by absentee it would reduce the size of government and we wouldn't want that in the Obama Regime.

Romney would disagree with you on that. Some of it was his idea, according to Mr. Romney himself. On various American media outlets, he gloated that the auto bailouts were suggested by him. It just appears very hallow to criticize Obama on handling the economy yet vote for the guy who agreed with him on many of the issues.

The size of the government has exploded under both republican and democratic regimes.

LOL, yes, here are some of his good ideas. Obama's position on gas prices, as stated by his Energy Secretary, is his desire to have US gas prices rise to the price levels of Europe.
Another good idea from Obama (The man of smarts) is being against the Keysone Project which will run a a oil pipeline from Canada to Texas and create thousands of good-paying jobs for Americans. For a man of smarts this should be a no-brainer.

The jobs the pipeline allegedly creates would take years to kick in and many of the towns the pipe would run through want nothing to do with it. It's a flashy stopgap that ultimately fails to be of any true value in the long run.

That one really whomps.

To answer your question, 9, yes it matters.

Obama plan on the budget:

Everyone knows if you don't have a plan you can't get where your going!

Yeah, it does, do you really want Romney as president. At least Obama has some smarts and has some good ideas.

Still waiting for those good ideas.

I wouldn't mind Romney anymore than I would mind Obama. I give credit to Romney in his previous history of bipartisanship and budgeting but he also agrees with some of Obama's economic policies. He is completely unapologetic in his support of it...unless it doesn't suit his political ambitions.

Most importantly, I believe Romney would be easier to press into using military force on Iran. We don't need to occupy another country, we can't afford it.

Proof?
