Which do you think is the healthier route: eating organic food that is brought in from outside your geographical location or eating food that is grown on local farms within your geographical location and why?

I believe fast food is actually the healthier choice. You always get your daily dose of mystery-meat, and don't forget the grease-infested potatoes we always forget to add to our diets!
Local, definitely. It's probably fresher because it hasn't had to travel long distances to get to you. Also, it's nice to help out local businesses by buying their produce :)
How is organic the same as regular food? Organic food is supposed to remain separate from conventional foods and it is regulated (no synthetic pesticides, etc).

By local, I was referring to farms within a 60 mile radius from your area.

I hear ya on the blueberry/lettuce comment.
Now that I googled it, I see there is a lot of controversy over the term "organic"....did not even realize there were different levels of what could be considered organic.

So, then you would say buying your produce from a privately owned local farm is best? Why?

What about kosher food - do you think it is a healthier choice?
THANK you, 9.
The thing about personal gardens are things like fungi can grow on the underside of the leaves in one's garden and that shit is nasty. Pesticides have become so widely used in farming because it is more difficult to manage growing vegetables without it and an amateur lacks the expertise than a professional farmer possesses.
Ohhhh yeah, and pesticides are PERFECTLY healthy, lol.
maybe I should have finished up the rest of that thought....a professional farmer has learned how to grow vegetables in a way to avoid things like fungi and an organic farmer takes it one step further and can do so without the use of pesticides. Contrast this with your local neighbor who has their own immature attempt at a garden. That was the point of my last post :)
Local. I guess it is because I feel like I know what I'm eating, produced by my people so it shouldn't hurt me, right?
