War has affected a lot of people in different ways. If there are war veterans in your family and they carry any kind of medals or photos (could be from ANY WAR, not just WW1 and WW2), feel free to upload them here and maybe a short blurb about what the medals represent.

Without the sacrifice of the WW2 verterans, not just in the US, but in other countries, a big part of the world would now have German or Japanese as their official language.

Huh? Which world power ever actually forced anyone to learn their language? Was everyone in East Germany forced to learn Russian? I can't remember any official languages changing like that.

I suppose dominant powers do tend to encourage the spread of their own language, in the way that the British Empire and the American Empire have spread English as a primary language for business and so on. Would speaking German be that bad, anyway? Or would it not be exactly the same as speaking English? You say that like it's a bad thing.

And don't forget the creation of the terrorist state of Israel. Kind of sad that hundreds of thousands of innocent lives were lost just so the Jews could justify their violent crimes through the phantom holocaust.

ok, let me say my this. independence day is for when our forefathers won independence from tyranny, memorial day is just that, for those lost, a memorial, and veterans day is for the vets, not just those lost, but those still living as well.
