Man, I love having home-grown things. My boyfriend is going crazy with excitement over the home-grown banana peppers and cherry tomatoes maturing on our deck, and I made him a huge container of cucumber and tomato salad to use up some of the ridiculous amounts of dill we have growing out there.

Seriously...nothing beats home-grown. The bananas I grow are the sweetest I've ever tasted in my life...lucky to have such good soil down here in Miami! The mango tree is nuts. We've had to repair the roof four times because so many of them land on it. These suckers get big...I gotta put a picture up of it.

Hoping to branch out into more adventurous territory next year, but we're kinda limited by the fact that we're renting this house. Wouldn't want to go all out and plant a fruit tree only to get attached to it and have to leave it behind. The people who were here before us left a Jack O'Lantern out all winter long, so it looks like the last home-grown edible will be a pumpkin or two. The plants are HUGE! If there's more than one, I might bring one to his mother to make a pie out of and then carve the other. We're definitely roasting and salting those pumpkin seeds though!
