Is it possible to fall in love with someone you've never met?

My cousin and I were having this discussion last night... Because she truly believes she is in love with a guy she has never met. They met online, and have been talking for a couple months now. He even says he is in love with her as well. My question is....is it really possible to be in love with someone you have never met? ....

my opinion, I don't think so...I think you can be in love with the idea of the person, talking over the phone is different from actually spending time in person with someone. What you feel for them over the phone could be different from how you would feel with them in person.

wow, this is a hard one. i do believe in love but internet love. i'm not sure. it is possible. Falling in Love with a person means loving and respecting that person for who and what this person is to "you" and wanting them in your life everyday. It can be long term meaning the relationship can turn into marriage.

:P yeah... I love this question. Cause I have been in the wrong haha. Ok so.. do I think you can fall in love over the internet? I think you can... but, I do think part of us makes up some illusion to make that person seem better or that we don't see their faults. Basically like having a crush. If there's anything we don't know about the online person, I do believe our minds fill in the gaps with stuff we WANT to believe, but can be nonsense. No one is perfect, and I think the internet hides flaws. So yeah, we can be in love with a person but only part of them. Also you can be in love with the idea of being in love.

I strongly thing that two people should associate in person for awhile to see if what they thought about the person, is really true. It is easy to say we are fine with a habit, as we aren't around in online. In person..we would have to be around that habit and well.. it's different.
