Is it bettter to live ignorantly in bliss, or is it better to be aware of the ups and downs in the world?

I ponder over this question much of the time. Which life is better? Maybe I should clarify the difference a bit better. We'll see if people understand as is.

define your terms before you argue. better how? better for who?

also, because this is a generality, the answer will change as the specific situation it's applied to changes. I think in this case, it will tend to change a great deal, making it a poor generality at that...
