injuns, what should be done?

i am jsut wondering if anyone has any plausible ideass of what should be done to honor and respect the injuns and attempt to right the wrongs done their people way back before i was born by the savage pale skins with the boom sticks and disease layden blankets, ooo, dont forget the toxic firewater that the injuns were 'forced' to drink, oh and the shiny shiny beeds that they traded their lands for, when they weren't outright robbed and beaten blind, for their lands

i really want to know what could make all these things right?

any suggestions?

the funny thing is that i am part native, and mostly irish with a few other things tossed in there for good measure

i stated this to cetan at one point and he saiys to me that i am not part native, you either are something or you are not something, now, what i am not is a whiny little bitch, that is what i am not

that being said how can you not be part something, if my heritage comes from the world over shouldnt i honor all 'parts' of me? or should i pick my favorite part and claim that and no other?

but, to be honest i would really like to know what he would like to be done, and i imagine he may say something about sending all non natives back, well, where would i fall in that case, being that i am not fully anything

which is why i asked for a plausible solution, because no matter what he may think the non natives are not going anywhere

and what he doesnt understand is that he isnt the only one with a great dislike for the people running this country

but, there isnt a whole lot that can be done about it, so, i want to know what, in his oh so knowledgable opinion should be done to right the injustices done his people, then we can get started on the african americans, and after that the irish, because they werent even whites until less than hundred years ago, and then asian, because in world war 2 we wiped entire citys from the globe, quite possibly killing more japanes in those 2 fell swoops than the entire netive nations ever had in them to start with, i jsut want to know, what could fix the problem, that wasnt done by anyone who is alive, and wasnt done to anyone living, at least in the case of all the things he has mentioned thus far, he does talk about it still goes on today, but never cites any cases of what he means by that

though i am certain that due to the color of my skinif i were to enter into many many reservations i would feel a strong objection to my presence there, even though i am a decendant of the same people they are decended from, i jsut dont know

First and foremost, 9's right, nothing will make it right. It's not all about the broken treaties either. There were many things that took place that can't be undone, as well as things that are still happening now.

Giving Native's sovereignty wouldn't fly either. The United States just won't have it. I could site the articles of the Constitution that have been broken by the US since 1804, but that would take forever. The things I would ask for would be the health care system that we were promised, the education, and the actual ownership of lands deeded to my people, and all others that were promised the same thing in the 200+ treaties that were broken. However, I know it will not happen.

Why do some dumb-ass people think throwing money at a problem is going to solve it? The casinos do nothing but add a new problem onto the old ones. Sure a majority of the population likes the idea, but money isn't everything. Gambling is just another addiction that afflicts the people it was desinged to help.

Bent, and this goes to the spook too, the only reason I said that is; although you can be honored by that descent, what do you really know of your Native American heritage? You know it's there, but can you speak the language? Have you performed any of the actual ceremonies that whatever group you say you're from requires of you to become a man? The way I see it, and I'll be using my people as an example: You can be Sioux by birthright, but it takes a certain way of thinking to be a Lakota.

I am only one person, but that is enough and I know what I have to do. I always have known.

It was and never will be about revenge for me, like the eggplant thinks. I want justice.

and you are right i know little about my ancestors cultures other than what i have read myself, which in no ways mean i know anything, but, while you may say this is my fault i say would they be taught to me if i were attempting to learn, and the answer is no, because i am not red enough for you

but, in the end it matters not, because i dont need some fishy ritual to unreal gods of any religion to be a man, i dont need to drink the blood of the first critter i killed, and i definatly dont need the forskin of my penis removed...i need none of these things to be a man, all i need is to be responsible for myself, stand up for myself and to take care of whatever amily i may have, whic i have, if you need to rape a wolf to be a man, that is your savage right to do so :P

the simple fact is if you knew wht you had to do, you would be doing it instead of whining like a female dog about it, you would take action instead of making posts on it to a bunch of 'honkeys' and 'spooks' as you have so eloquently put it, and you wouldn't be advertising that you have an inkling of an idea of how what when or where to do it on a public forum, period

indeed, i agree with both, nothing at all could make past wrongs right, the people living here now have nothing to do with what happened then, even if they are direct decndents

and every single one of us has bad apples in our family tree along with victims, there is no point to hanging on to any of it, we should learn about it, see how wrong it was and attempt to not allow it to happen today, though it does happen every day, as an individual not much we can do to stop it

native american manhood ceremony......

A young brave was being inducted through his manhood ceremony to join the warriors of the tribe. He was faced with three tents.

In the first one was a gallon of plum wine, which he had to drink in one go. In the second was a mountain lion with toothache; he had to remove the painful tooth. In the third was a woman who had never had an orgasm, who he had to pleasure.

The young brave entered the first tent, and after a while staggered out, very drunk, holding the empty wine skin. The warriors all applauded.
