The root of the problem is that there are no moderators to reign in the name calling and hostility. I would venture to say that if certain individual would stop posting personal attacks on other members in discussions that don't have anything to do with the attacked member and in general just let go of whatever it is that drives them to so, then the other members would most likely forget the attacker even exists.
