I wouldn't put too much faith in that 'evolved for housework' script. Best i can tell it's a myth that was created at some point between 1940 and 1950 as a way for science to rationalize the current gender roles. What we know about actual hunter-gatherer societies is that men play a fairly large role in raising children, and that women are perfectly capable of acquiring enough food to get by, even when they need to feed small children, even when pregnant. Gathering yields more calories than hunting, and women don't have an ego about their hunting, so they're satisfied with birds, small game, they dig traps - you work with your brain hard enough and strength is irrelevant.

Also, those sex differences - men are better at visuospatial tasks and women are better at language tasks - the differences are small. So small that they are mostly only detectable in a lab. So small that the average difference between men and women as a whole is smaller than the average difference between any two random members of the same gender (me and you, for example, have a larger discrepancy in our visuospatial and language abilities than the average difference between men and women)
