Bolt Moderators... And Moderation

I need to figure out how much or how little moderating to do on this site. Certain things are out of my control, but others are really just based on the preferences of Bolt members. Weigh in on what kind of moderation should be done.. What is appropriate and what isn't appropriate? When should a member be banned from the site? What pic's, language, videos, topics, etc..., should or should not be permitted? Keep in mind, if there is any moderation at all, it is all going to be volunteer based! Not perfect... There is no money to do any better ;)

I'm not for strong moderation, but I think nudity is something that shouldn't be allowed since there are so many members under 18. Plus I don't wanna see everyone's nude pics/videos.

Agreed. If nudes are posted they should at least be limited to friends only lists and not public.

I do vote that you pick a few people that are willing to do some moderation (in their free time of course) in general as to keep spam bots off the site, and also to monitor posts on the message board and such.

I agree that nudity and certain spamming such as advertising on the forum board should be kept off the site.

Light banter and slightly disruptive posting however should be allowed in my opinion. ;)

I wouldn't go as far as to not allow anything like that on the site, just make a NSFW section in the forum where people can post things like that if they wish.

Moderation is required in some sense or else people are just going to abuse the freedom allotted to them. Johnson is a good example of this as he has already started trolling with nonsensical and vulgar posts a few times.

I know this already. I'm just stating out the obvious facts that are sometimes overlooked. As far as the vulgar thing goes, I've posted far worse than he has but at least I do it in a entertaining fashion. His posts are just bland in their attempt to offend.

Everything... (mostly) helpful... In true Bolt fashion. What about language? Certain comments I think could definitely be considered X-rated without using, say the "7-deadly words." I personally lean toward a great deal of liberal democratic interpretation on language - but I also feel a responsibility to do the best we can for the under 18 folks who find their way to Bolt. I'd like to pose a suggestion: What if blatant crude language is moderated; however, if the author is able to craft their words in a manner that doesn't ring bells for the under 18 group (read: "clever" like Shakespeare), it is tolerated?

Anyway, please weigh in. Many of the expressions posted by the returning Joz I am inclined to moderate but I want to hear all sides. ...Joz, nothing personal, just trying to run a community here...
